Catalyst Monitor Sensor: Removal

All sensors 

1. • Remove the nut.

     Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)

   • Remove the bolt.

     Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

   • Remove the engine appearance cover.
   • If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened.

     Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

   Right hand Catalyst monitor sensor 

3. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH 2.7L EcoBoost .
4. Remove the RH CAC intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe 2.7L EcoBoost .
5. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

6. Apply penetrating oil to sensor, using the special tool remove the Catalyst monitor sensor. Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.

   Material: Motorcraft® Penetrating and Lock Lubricant / XL-1

   Left hand Catalyst monitor sensor 

7. Remove the LH air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH 2.7L EcoBoost .
8. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

9. Remove the retainers and the LH underbody splash shield.

10. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical harness retainer.

11. Apply penetrating oil to sensor, using the special tool remove the Catalyst monitor sensor. Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
