Power Transfer Unit Rear Seal: Removal

- Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS)

NOTE: 2.0L EcoBoost vehicle shown, others similar.
Remove the retainers and the front crossmember brace.
- Using the two leg puller remove the companion flange. Use the General Equipment: Two Leg Puller
- Remove the heat shield retainer and position aside the heat shield.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove and discard retaining clip.
- Using the tool, pierce the seal. Remove and discard pinion seal using dent puller. Use Special Service Tool: 308-777 Remover and Installer, PTU Input Shaft Seal. Use the General Equipment: Slide Hammer Dent Puller
