Power Transfer Unit Input Shaft Seal LH - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission - 8F57: Removal

- Remove the PTU cooler. Refer to: Power Transfer Unit Cooler - Vehicles With: Power Transfer Unit Oil-to-Coolant Cooler 2.7L EcoBoost
- Remove the PTU oil temperature sensor. Refer to: Oil Temperature Sensor 2.7L EcoBoost
- Remove and discard PTU case bolts.
- Remove the casing. Use the General Equipment: Plastic Mallet
- Remove and discard the O ring.
- Remove the ring gear and input shaft assembly.

NOTE: The bearing race and shim may come out when the seal is removed.
Using the special tools, remove and discard the LH input shaft seal. Use Special Service Tool: 308-972 Installer, Input Sleeve.
