High-Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Unit: Removal

- Release the cooling system pressure. Refer to: ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, VACUUM FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the high-pressure fuel pump. Refer to: High-Pressure Fuel Pump 2.7L EcoBoost .
- Clamp off the cooling system hoses with the hose clamp pliers, disconnect the cooling hose quick connect couplings, then move the hoses out of the way. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)
- Detach the wiring harness retainers from the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.
- Remove the upper high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.
- Loosen the lower high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolt, then remove the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit with the lower studbolt.
