Cylinder Head to Coolant Outlet Connector Hose Assembly: Removal

Left-hand (LH) side 

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding  .
    1. Remove the oil filler cap.
    2. Remove the fasteners and the engine appearance cover.

  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 2.0L EcoBoost .
  4. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH 2.7L EcoBoost .
  5. Remove the LH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH 2.7L EcoBoost .
  6. Detach the bracket retainer, loosen the clamp, and disconnect the coolant hose.

  7. Remove the nuts and disconnect the transmission oil cooler tubes. Use the General Equipment: Fluid Container

  8. Remove the transmission cooler tube secondary latches.

  9. NOTE: Failure to cap the openings for the transmission cooler tubes may result in siphoning of the transmission fluid. This may result in damage to the transmission, if the transmission fluid is not checked and filled after the repair is completed.
    NOTE: Install caps on the transmission cooler tubes.

    • Detach the transmission oil cooler tubes clip.

    • Using the special tool, remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  10. Remove the fasteners and the coolant hose support bracket.

  11. NOTE: Do not pry the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector behind the fastener bracket. If necessary use gripping pliers to pull the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector from the cylinder head.

    Release the hose clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Remove the bolt and the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector hose assembly. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  12. Inspect the O-ring and replace if necessary.

    Right-hand (RH) side 

  13. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding  .
    1. Remove the oil filler cap.
    2. Remove the fasteners and the engine appearance cover.

  15. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 2.0L EcoBoost .
  16. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH 2.7L EcoBoost .
  17. Remove the LH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH 2.7L EcoBoost .
  18. Remove the transmission fluid cooler. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Cooler .
  19. Detach the wiring harness retainers.

  20. NOTE: Do not pry the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector behind the fastener bracket. If necessary use gripping pliers to pull the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector from the cylinder head.

    Release the hose clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Remove the bolt and the cylinder head to coolant outlet connector hose assembly. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  21. Inspect the O-ring and replace if necessary.
