Main Control Cover: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
    2. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .

    1. Detach and position the tube aside.
    2. Loosen the clamps and remove the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.

  3. Release the clamps and disconnect the by-pass hose and the vacuum hose.

  4. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

  5. Loosen the clamp.

  6. Remove the bolt and position the lower RH air cleaner outlet pipe aside.

  7. Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake lower pipe RH.

  8. Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake upper pipe RH.

    1. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
    2. Detach the retainer and position the EVAP canister purge valve tube aside.

    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Disconnect the bypass valve electrical connector and remove the CAC intake pipe RH.

  9. Detach the coolant hose from the starter motor bracket.

  10. Clean, inspect, and cover all open ports.
  11. Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission. Install the drain plug.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  12. Disconnect the transmission electrical connector, remove the wiring retainers and position aside the vehicle wiring harness.

  13. Remove the nut from the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket.

  14. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latch.

  15. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tube. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  16. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  17. Completely loosen the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission fluid cooler tube assembly tube fitting.

  18. Position aside the transmission cooler tube as needed to remove the main control cover.

  19. NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.

    Remove the bolts and remove the main control cover.
