Main Control Cover: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .

- Detach and position the tube aside.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Release the clamps and disconnect the by-pass hose and the vacuum hose.
- Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Loosen the clamp.
- Remove the bolt and position the lower RH air cleaner outlet pipe aside.
- Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake lower pipe RH.
- Loosen the clamp and position aside the CAC intake upper pipe RH.

- Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Detach the retainer and position the EVAP canister purge valve tube aside.

- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the bypass valve electrical connector and remove the CAC intake pipe RH.
- Detach the coolant hose from the starter motor bracket.
- Clean, inspect, and cover all open ports.
- Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission. Install the drain plug.
Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
- Disconnect the transmission electrical connector, remove the wiring retainers and position aside the vehicle wiring harness.
- Remove the nut from the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latch.
- Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tube. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
- Completely loosen the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission fluid cooler tube assembly tube fitting.
- Position aside the transmission cooler tube as needed to remove the main control cover.

NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.
Remove the bolts and remove the main control cover.
