- No 1-2 shift/harsh/soft/slipping
- Check the intermediate clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Intermediate Clutch Assembly .
- Check the low one-way clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Low One-Way Clutch Assembly .
- Check the forward clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Forward Clutch Assembly .
- No 2-3 shift harsh/soft/slipping
- Check the direct clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Direct Clutch Assembly .
- Check the forward clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Forward Clutch Assembly .
- Check the intermediate clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Intermediate Clutch Assembly .
- No 3-4 shift harsh/soft/slipping
- Check overdrive clutch for damage or wear. REFER to: Overdrive Clutch Assembly .

- No 4-5 shift harsh/soft/slipping
