Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoid: Removal

RH (right-hand) Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoids

1. Remove the nut.
  Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)
2. Detach the 2 engine appearance cover grommets from the ball studs and remove the engine appearance cover.
3. If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened into the valve cover.
  Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the bolts and the RHVCT oil control solenoids.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

LH (left-hand) Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoids
1. Remove the nut.
  Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)
2. Detach the 2 engine appearance cover grommets from the ball studs and remove the engine appearance cover.
3. If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened into the valve cover.
  Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Disconnect the quick release coupling and position the tube aside. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

Disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the bolts and the LHVCT oil control solenoids.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
