Valve Cover RH: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE: Installation of new seals is only required if damaged seals were removed.

    Using the special tools, install new spark plug tube seals. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.

  2. Install a new gasket.

  3. Apply clean engine oil to the surface.

    Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)

  4. NOTE: If the valve cover is not installed and the fasteners tightened within 10 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned.

    Apply an 8 mm (0.31 in) bead of Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the engine front cover-to-cylinder head joints.

    Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

  5. Install the valve cover and tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  6. Install the RH coil-on-plugs. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
    • Connect the TC vacuum supply tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    • Attach the vacuum tube retainers.

    • Attach the vacuum tube and coolant tube retainers.

    • Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector and retainers.

    • Connect the engine harness electrical connector and attach the retainer.

    • Connect the PCM electrical connector.

    1. Position the PCV tube and connect the quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
    2. Connect the throttle body electrical connector.

  11. Install the RH charge air cooler intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
  12. Attach the wiring harness retainer to the engine mount.

  13. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors and attach the wiring harness retainer.

  14. If equipped, install the wiring harness cover and the retainer.

    1. Position the engine appearance cover and attach the 2 grommets onto the ball studs.
    2. Install the nut.

      Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)

  16. Install a new engine oil filter and fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
