Selector Lever Cable: Installation

  1. Position the selector lever cable in the vehicle.

  2. Attach the selector lever cable to the selector lever cable bracket.

  3. Install the selector lever cable retaining clip bolt.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  4. Attach the selector lever cable to the TRCM lever.

  5. Install the RH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
  6. Attach the selector lever cable retainer.

  7. Install the selector lever cable retainer nut.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  8. Attach the selector lever cable to the bracket and install the selector cable retainer bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  9. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  10. Using the diagnostic scan tool select the cable adjustment mode.
  11. NOTE: The D must be illuminated on the GSM display.

    1. Press D on the GSM.

  12. NOTE: Verify D is illuminated on the IPC.

    1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.

    1. Move the slide to the left.
    2. While holding the slide, position the adjuster lock upward.

  13. NOTE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

    Connect the selector lever cable to the manual control lever.

  14. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the selector lever cable end to make sure it is securely installed.

    While holding slide press the adjuster lock downward.

  15. Press P on the GSM.

  16. Clear the DTCs.
  17. Shift the transmission through the ranges starting in P, then R, then N, then D, then N, then R and then back to P.
  18. Check for DTCs.
  19. Disconnect the scan tool.
  20. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.
  21. Verify that the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
