Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

LH Instrument panel upper section
NOTE:
The instrument panel upper section is separated into LH and RH sections.

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Health and Safety Precautions . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
- On LH side, remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
- Remove the FCIM. Refer to: Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) .
- Lower the steering column opening trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Position aside the gap hider from the upper steering column shroud. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Disconnect the LH and RH ambient light electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the LH instrument panel upper section.
Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
RH Instrument panel upper section
NOTE: The instrument panel upper section is separated into LH and RH sections.NOTE: The LH instrument panel upper section must be removed prior to removing the RH instrument panel upper section. -
WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
If a SRS fault is present, continue to Step 9. Otherwise, turn the ignition off and wait at least one minute and continue to Step 10.
- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
- On RH side, remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
- Remove the FCIM. Refer to: Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) .
- Release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Remove the retainers and the RH insulation panel.
- Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the glove compartment. Disconnect the electrical connector.
Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
- Remove the bolts, disconnect the electrical connectors, release the harness retainer and position aside the harness.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel upper section.
Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
