Pinpoint Test G : The Active Park Assist System Does Not Activate When The Active Park Assist Switch Is Pressed

  1. G1 VERIFY THE CONCERN

    • Verify the operation of the active park assist system.

    Does the active park assist system operate correctly? 

    Yes  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by high network traffic or the driver's perception of how the active park assist system operate. REFER to the Owner's Literature.
    No  GO to  G2
  2. G2 PERFORM A NETWORK TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.

    Do the PAM, GWM, BCM and the FCIM modules pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  G3
    No  See the Symptom Chart: Communication Network. REFER to: Communications Network .
  3. G3 CHECK THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  REFER to the PAM DTC Chart  .
    No  GO to  G4
  4. G4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  See the GWM DTC Chart. REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  GO to  G5
  5. G5 CHECK THE FCIM (FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the FCIM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  See FCIM DTC Chart. Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment System article for the procedure.
    No  GO to  G6
  6. G6 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM (FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all FCIM connectors and related in-line connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the FCIM connectors and related in-line connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to FCIM Guided Routine . If the concern is still present after the FCIM replacement, GO to  G7
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  7. G7 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors and related in-line connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the BCM connectors and related in-line connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to BCM Guided Routine .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
