Fuel System Pressure Release

Pressure release

NOTE: The FPDM is located beneath the 2nd row right rear seat cushion, under the carpet.

Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to: Rear Seat Cushion .
Release the clips and remove the rear door scuff plate trim panel.

Remove the retainer and position carpet aside.

Disconnect the FPDM electrical connector.

NOTE: On vehicles equipped with GTDI (gasoline turbocharged direct injection) engines, running the engine with the FPDM disconnected will remove most of the pressure from both the low and high pressure sides of the system.

Start the engine and allow it to idle until the engine stalls.
Turn the ignition switch to the off position.
When the fuel system service is complete, reconnect the FPDM electrical connector.

Reposition carpet and install retainer.

Install the rear door scuff plate trim panel.

Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to: Rear Seat Cushion .
Cycle the ignition key and wait 3 seconds to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks before starting the engine.
When service on the fuel system is complete, start the engine and check for leaks.
