Oil Pump: Installation

Clean the oil pump sealing surfaces.
Material: Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep Wipes / ZC-31-B

Prime the oil pump. Add 2 tablespoons of clean engine oil to the oil pump and rotate the oil pump by hand.
Install the new oil pump gasket.

Install the oil pump and the bolts. Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages:
Torque: Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm) Stage 2: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Install the oil pump sprocket and bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

1. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
  
  Position the oil pump chain and install the tensioner and shoulder bolts.
  
  Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
2. Hook the tensioner spring around the shoulder bolt.

Install a new O-ring seal on the oil pickup and screen.

Install the oil pickup and screen and bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .

NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within 10 minutes of sealant application, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 10 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

Apply a 3 mm bead of silicone sealant.

Install the oil pan and the bolts finger tight.

Using a straight edge, align the front surface of the oil pan flush with the front surface of the engine block. Use the General Equipment: Round-Ended Steel Rule

Tighten the bolts in sequence shown.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Install the oil pan-to-transmission bolt.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and install.
Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)

Torque: Stage 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm) Stage 2: 180 deg.

1. Position the A/C compressor and install the stud.
  Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
2. Install the A/C compressor bolts and nut.
  Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
3. Install the A/C compressor line bracket bolt.
  Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- Connect the electrical connectors and wiring retainer.

Install the CAC outlet tube and tighten the clamps.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

1. Install the CAC inlet tube and the nuts.
  Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

Position the jack and wooden block under the front of the oil pan. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

Remove Special Service Tool: 303-F072 Support Bar, Engine.

- Install the upper sight shield and the retainers.
- Install the hood release handle and the bolts and retainer.
  Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

Install the following items:
1. Refer to: Engine Front Cover 2.3L EcoBoost .
2. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect 2.3L EcoBoost .
Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications 2.3L EcoBoost .
Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-30 - Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-Q1SP (WSS-M2C946-B1)
