Fuel System Pressure Check

 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit

Materials 

Name Specification
Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric CompoundXG-3-A ESE-M1C171-A

Check 

NOTE: This Fuel System Pressure Check is for the low pressure side of the system.
  1. NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.
    1. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
    2. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

  2. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release 2.3L EcoBoost  .
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe 2.0L EcoBoost .
  5. NOTE: When removing or installing the high-pressure fuel pump noise insulator, spreading the openings will reduce the risk of damage.

    Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the high-pressure pump noise insulator.

  6. Disconnect the fuel jumper tube-to-high pressure pump quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling 2.3L EcoBoost  .

  7. Install the Fuel Pressure Test Kit between the fuel jumper tube and the high pressure fuel pump. Use Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

  8. NOTE: The FPDM electrical connector was previously disconnected to release the fuel system pressure and must be reconnected to test the fuel system pressure.

    Reconnect the FPDM electrical connector.

  9. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe 2.0L EcoBoost .
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  11. NOTE: Carry out a Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) visual inspection for fuel leaks prior to completing the fuel system pressure test.
    NOTE: After completion of the fuel system pressure test, open the drain valve on the Fuel Pressure Test Kit and release any residual fuel into a suitable container prior to removing the tool.

    Test the fuel system pressure to make sure it is within the specified range. For additional information, refer to Specifications  .

    1. NOTE: Lubricating the grommets with silicone grease will aid in the installation of the engine appearance cover, and any future removal and installation of the cover.

      Lubricate each grommet with silicone grease.

      : Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)

    2. Position the engine appearance cover onto engine with the grommets aligned with the studs.
    3. Press down on the engine appearance cover at each grommet location to attach the grommets onto the studs.
