Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Differential: Assembly

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE: Do not torque the 4 ring gear bolts.

    Hand-start 4 new ring gear bolts to align the holes in the ring gear and the differential case. Evenly tighten the 4 bolts to seat the ring gear onto the differential case.

  2. Install the remaining new differential ring gear bolts and tighten in 2 stages.

    Torque

    :Stage 1: 24 lb.ft (33 Nm)Stage 2: 60 °

  3. Using the special tools, press new differential carrier bearings on the differential assembly.Use Special Service Tool: 307-587 Differential bearing installer and guide.Use the General Equipment: Hydraulic Press

  4. Select a new differential shim. REFER to: Torque Converter Housing .
