Exhaust Y-Pipe - Dual Catalytic Converter: Removal

NOTE: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on isolators as they deteriorate the rubber.

NOTE: The exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter is a 2-piece assembly. The Right Hand (RH) and Left Hand (LH) converters can be serviced separately as needed.

NOTE: If the dual catalytic converter is not being replaced, the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and the Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) do not need to be removed from the dual catalytic converter. Disconnecting the electrical connectors is still necessary.

NOTE: Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Jacking and Lifting .

2.

Detach the wire routing retainers and disconnect the LHHO2S electrical connector.

If equipped, release the fasteners and remove the underbody splash shield.

Disconnect the LHCMS.

Remove and discard the LH catalytic converter flange nuts.

Loosen the clamp and remove the LH catalytic converter.

Remove the transmission insulator and retainer. Refer to Automatic Transmission 6R80 .

8.

Disconnect the RHHO2S electrical connector.

Disconnect the RHCMS.

Remove the bolts from the catalytic converter flange to the muffler.

Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter flange nuts. Remove the RH catalytic converter.
