Engine Mount - LH: Removal

All vehicles 

• 1.
  
  
  NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .

  Remove the engine appearance cover.

  Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery, Mounting and Cables .

  NOTE: Index-mark the hood hinge location to aid in hood installation.
  NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

  Remove the bolts (2 shown) and the hood.

  Release the fasteners and remove the splash shield.

  If equipped, turn the quarter turn retainers, detach the push-pins and remove the lower air deflector.

  If equipped, remove the bolts and the skid plate.

  Remove the Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe. Refer to: Intake Air Distribution and Filtering .

    Disconnect the PCV pressure sensor electric connector.

  • 2.
    
    Disconnect the PCV tube quick connect couplings and remove the PCV tube, Refer to: Fuel System General Information .

  Disconnect the quick connect couplings and disconnect the turbocharger bypass tube. Refer to: Fuel System General Information .

    Release the turbocharger inlet tube from the turbocharger inlet tube bracket grommet.

  • 2.
    
    Loosen the turbocharger inlet tube clamp and remove the turbocharger inlet tube.

  Release the turbocharger outlet tube from the retaining clamp and release the turbocharger outlet tube from the turbocharger outlet tube bracket grommet. Loosen the turbocharger outlet tube clamp and remove the turbocharger outlet tube.

  Disconnect the turbocharger inlet pipe hose.

  Detach the turbocharger inlet pipe from the bracket. Loosen the turbocharger inlet pipe clamp and remove the turbocharger inlet pipe.

  Disconnect the turbocharger outlet pipe hose and detach the turbocharger outlet pipe from the bracket. Loosen the turbocharger outlet pipe clamps and remove the turbocharger outlet pipe.

  If equipped, remove the front driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .

  Remove the LHHO2S. Refer to: Electronic Engine Controls .

  NOTE: The Engine Support Bar is being installed to support the engine only. Do not lift the engine from the generator stud.

  Remove the generator stud nut, attach a Engine Lifting Bracket and a D-Ring to the generator stud and install the Engine Support Bar.

  • Reinstall the nut.

  Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

  Remove and discard the LH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

  Remove the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolts and separate.
  • Discard the bolts.

  NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

  Loosen the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

  NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine support insulator through bolts or damage to the engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

  Loosen the RH engine support insulator through bolt.

  Remove the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

  Position a suitable hydraulic jack under the front axle. Securely strap the axle to the jack.

  Remove the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

  Remove the lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

  Lower the front axle to allow clearance to the LH engine support insulator.

All vehicles

  Using a floor jack and a block of wood on the oil pan, raise the engine approximately 30 mm (1.18 in).

  NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the engine support insulator-to-frame bolts or damage to the engine support insulator-to-frame nut plate can occur.

  Remove and discard the bolts and the LH engine support insulator.

  Inspect the engine support insulator-to-frame nut plate for thread damage. If the nut plate is damaged, bend 2 tabs back and remove the nut plate. Replace the nut plate with service part number 56190 and bend the 2 tabs back to the original position.

  NOTE: If necessary, the following 3 steps are to remove the LH engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bracket.

  Detach the generator wiring harness from the engine front cover.

  Detach the generator wiring harness retainer from the lower LH side of the engine block.

  Remove the bolts and the LH engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bracket.
  • Discard the bolts.
