Diagnostic Overview 

Diagnostics in this article assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in Service Information for information about these practices.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

The APIM, ACM and audio DSP module communicate with the FCIM through the I-CAN.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U0256:00 Lost Communication With Front Controls Interface Module "A": No Sub Type Information Set by the APIM, ACM and audio DSP module when network messages are missing from the FCIM for more than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.
