WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator and 2017 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Before disconnecting the PAM or the speaker, verify that the connectors are properly seated and latched.
- I1 CHECK THE SPEAKER CONNECTOR FOR CORRECT LATCHING
- Ignition OFF.
- Inspect the front parking aid speaker connector C2024 for correct latching by pulling on the latched connector.
Is the connector latched?
Yes GO to I2. No Correctly latch the connector. - I2 MEASURE THE PARKING AID SPEAKER RESISTANCE
- Disconnect: Front Parking Aid Speaker C2024 .
Is the resistance between 40 and 60 ohms?
Yes If DTC B1B53:14 was recorded, GO to I3.If DTC B1B53:12 was recorded, GO to I6. No INSTALL a new front parking aid speaker. REFER to Parking Aid Speaker . - I3 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to I4. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - I4 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2024-1 C4014B-7 Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2024-2 C4014A-2
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to I5. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - Measure:
- I5 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to I7. No REPAIR the circuits. - I6 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to I7. - I7 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the PAM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Parking Aid Module (PAM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
