Removal And Installation: Liftgate

All vehicles

1.

Remove the liftgate trim panel, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation .

2.

Disconnect the liftgate electrical connectors and harness routing clips.

  Remove the screws.

  Detach the washer hose from the washer jet.

  Disconnect the electrical connector.

  Remove the lamp assembly.

Remove the rear washer tube grommet from the liftgate.

Vehicles with power liftgate

5.

On both sides, remove the power liftgate rod cover.

On both sides, remove the nut and the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
- To install, apply threadlock to the threads of fastener and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

All vehicles

7.

On both sides, disconnect the assist cylinder at the side of the liftgate.

NOTE: An assistant is necessary for the removal of the liftgate.

Remove the bolts and the liftgate.
- To install, tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

10.

Check the liftgate to body alignment. Align the liftgate as necessary. Refer to Door Alignment - Front .

11.

If equipped with power liftgate, initialize the power liftgate system. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization .
