Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
Refer to Steering Column Switches .
When the ignition is in the RUN mode, the BCM sends the ignition mode message to other modules on the network over the CAN. The BCM also controls the ground side of the RUN/START relay coil. When the BCM provides a ground for the RUN/START relay coil, it energizes and provides voltage to various vehicle electrical systems, including the blower motor system.
BCM DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

| B1310:12 | Run/Start Control: Circuit Short to Battery | Sets when the BCM detects a short to battery from the coil control circuit of the RUN/START relay. |
| B1310:14 | Run/Start Control: Circuit Short to Ground or Open | Sets when the BCM detects an open or a short to ground from the coil control circuit of the RUN/START relay. |

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Make sure BJB fuses 12 (40A) and 42 (5A) are OK
