Component Description: BCM

Conventional Ignition Switch System

The BCM determines the vehicle ignition mode based on the ignition switch input. The BCM communicates the ignition mode to the other modules over the CAN. The BCM monitors the ignition switch input and the ignition mode outputs.

When the BCM is replaced, at least 2 keys must be programmed to it and a parameter reset procedure carried out.

Push Button Ignition Switch System

The BCM determines the vehicle ignition mode based on the push button ignition switch input and RFA module messages regarding passive key identification. The BCM communicates the ignition mode to the other modules over the CAN. If a fault is detected with the push button ignition switch, the BCM sets a DTC.

When the BCM is replaced, the parameter reset procedure must be carried out.
