Rear Lower Arm: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure may result in major service expense. New parts must be installed with the same part numbers or equivalent part, if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure correct retention of these parts.

NOTE: Orientation of the suspension fasteners is important. Make sure the fasteners are installed in the same direction as they were in when removed.

Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to Wheels and Tires .

2.

NOTE: If equipped with dynamic suspension.

Remove the height sensor arm bracket bolt and position the bracket aside.

Remove and discard the shock absorber lower bolt and flagnut.

4.

Remove and discard the lower arm-to-frame bolt and flagnut.

5.

Remove and discard the lower ball joint nut.

6.

NOTE: Do not damage the ball joint boot while installing the Ball Joint Separator.

Using the Ball Joint Separator, separate the lower ball joint from the wheel knuckle.

7.

Swing the lower arm to the rear of the vehicle and remove the lower arm.
