Removal And Installation

WARNING: All seatbelt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all seatbelt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision . Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the seatbelt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

NOTE: The retractor may be equipped with an additional web stop button (small, thin, round button, not to be confused with the larger web stop button) located on the safety belt webbing. This button is only used for vehicle assembly and serves no other functional purpose. The button can possibly be retracted under the trim bezel, making it difficult to pull the safety belt webbing out of the retractor. To service, remove this web stop button. Do not install a new safety belt retractor to eliminate this condition. Any resulting appearance concerns with the webbing can be worked out by hand.

Remove the third row 60 percent seat backrest trim cover. For additional information, refer to Seating .

Remove the seat backrest foam pad.

3.

Remove the 4 screws from the safety belt retractor cover (2 shown).

Remove the safety belt retractor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

Pinch to release the safety belt retractor guide and remove the safety belt retractor.

NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

NOTE: Remove the shipping clip after safety belt retractor installation.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to the appropriate Functional Test in Component Test .
