Pinpoint Test Ax : The 911 Assist Not Operational Message Is Displayed

  1. AX1 CHECK FOR CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) present? 

    Yes  REFER to the appropriate module DTC Chart in the appropriate article.
    No  GO to  AX2.
  2. AX2 CHECK THE 911 ASSIST FEATURE IS ENABLED

    • Check the 911 assist feature setting in the display settings menu.

    Is the 911 assist setting enabled? 

    Yes  GO to  AX3.
    No  Enable the 911 assist feature. INFORM the customer how to enable/disable the feature.
  3. AX3 CHECK THE VEHICLE SERVICE HISTORY

    • CHECK the vehicle service history for recent service actions related to the IPC, RCM and APIM.

    Is there any recent service actions with the IPC, RCM or APIM ? 

    Yes  PERFORM the PMI procedure as directed by the diagnostic scan tool.
    No  GO to  AX4.
  4. AX4 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect the APIM connectors and related in-line connectors.
    • Repair:
      • Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
      • Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
      • Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
    • Reconnect the APIM connectors and related in-line connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Wait at least 2 minutes for the APIM to re-initialize.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, General Service Bulletin (GSB), SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Refer to APIM Hardware Testing .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
