Pinpoint Test K : The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally/Vertically - Passenger, With Manual Recliner

NOTE: The airbag warning indicator illuminates when the correct RCM fuse is removed and the ignition is ON.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

  1. K1 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

    • Operate the passenger power seat forward and rearward.

    Will the seat move horizontally? 

    Yes  GO to  K5.
    No  GO to  K2.

  2. K2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Airbag C3052.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Horizontal Motor C332.
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any airbag when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables .

    • Measure the voltage between passenger seat horizontal motor C332-3 , circuit CPS38 (GN/BU), harness side and C332-4 , circuit CPS33 (WH), harness side, while pushing the passenger seat control switch forward and rearward.

    Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when the seat control switch is operated in both directions and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  GO to  K3.

  3. K3 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C355.
    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-6 , circuit CPS38 (GN/BU), harness side and passenger seat horizontal motor C332-3 , circuit CPS38 (GN/BU), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  K4.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  4. K4 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-3 , circuit CPS33 (WH), harness side and passenger seat horizontal motor C332-4 , circuit CPS33 (WH), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch - Front . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  5. K5 DETERMINE THE SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST FAILURE

    • Operate the front and rear seat height adjustments.

    Does the seat front and rear height adjust up and down? 

    Yes  If only front height adjust operates, GO to  K6.If only rear height adjust operates, GO to  K9.
    No  INSTALL a new passenger seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch - Front . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  6. K6 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Airbag C3052.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Rear Height Motor C3075.
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any airbag when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables .

    • Measure the voltage between passenger seat rear height motor C3075-3 , circuit CPS37 (WH/BU), harness side and C3075-4 , circuit CPS36 (YE/GY), harness side, while depressing the seat control switch rear height adjust up and down.

    Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when the seat control switch is operated in both directions and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  GO to  K7.

  7. K7 CHECK THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C355.
    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-5 , circuit CPS36 (YE/GY), harness side and passenger seat rear height motor C3075-4 , circuit CPS36 (YE/GY), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  K8.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  8. K8 CHECK THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-7 , circuit CPS37 (WH/BU), harness side and passenger seat rear height motor C3075-3 , circuit CPS37 (WH/BU), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch - Front . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  9. K9 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Airbag C3052.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Front Height Motor C3074.
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any airbag when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables .

    • Measure the voltage between passenger seat front height motor C3074-3 , circuit CPS35 (VT/GN), harness side and C3074-4 , circuit CPS34 (GY/BU), while pushing the seat control switch rear height adjust up and down.

    Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when the seat control switch is operated in both directions and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  GO to  K10.

  10. K10 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C355.
    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-8 , circuit CPS35 (VT/GN), harness side and passenger seat front height motor C3074-3 , circuit CPS35 (VT/GN), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  K11.
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .

  11. K11 CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between passenger seat control switch C355-1 , circuit CPS34 (GY/BU), harness side, and passenger seat front height motor C3074-4 , circuit CPS34 (GY/BU), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new passenger seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch - Front . TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
    No  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.CONNECT passenger seat side airbag C3052.REPOWER the SRS. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System .
