Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S): Removal

Left Hand Heated Oxygen Sensor(HO2S)

1.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Jacking and Lifting .

2.

Remove the oil filler cap and remove the engine appearance cover. Install the oil filler cap.

NOTE: When removing or installing the fuel injection pump noise insulator, spreading the openings reduces the risk of damage.

Remove the fuel injection pump noise insulator.

Detach the the wire routing retainer and disconnect the LH HO2S electrical connector.

5.

Remove the LH fender splash shield. Refer to Front End Body Panels .

6.

Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the HO2S.
- Apply penetrating lubricant to the HO2S to assist in removal.

Right Hand Heated Oxygen Sensor(HO2S)

7.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Jacking and Lifting .

8.

Remove the oil filler cap and remove the engine appearance cover. Install the oil filler cap.

Remove the RH fender splash shield. Refer to Front End Body Panels .

10.

Detach the the wire routing retainer and disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor(HO2S) electrical connector.

11.

Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the HO2S.
- Apply penetrating lubricant to the HO2S to assist in removal.
