PINPOINT TEST AB : An Individual Reversing Lamp Is Inoperative

- AB1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE REVERSING LAMP
- Apply the parking brake.
- Disconnect: For Navigator, Inoperative LH Reversing (rear) Lamp C412 or RH Reversing (rear) Lamp C415 .
- Ignition ON.
- Place the vehicle in REVERSE.
- For Expedition, measure:
Rear Lamp-Left
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C451-2 Ground Rear Lamp-Right
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C461-2 Ground
- For Navigator, measure:
Rear Lamp-Left
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C412-5 Ground Rear Lamp-Right
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C415-5 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes For Expedition, GO to AB2For Navigator, if stoplamps operate correctly, INSTALL a new rear lamp assembly. REFER to Rear Lamp Assembly . If the stoplamps do not operate correctly, REFER to Stoplamps and diagnose the stoplamps. No REPAIR the reversing lamp voltage supply circuit for an open. - AB2 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT
- Measure:
Rear Lamp-Left
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C451-2 C451-1 Rear Lamp-Right
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C461-2 C461-1
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes INSTALL a new reversing lamp bulb. REFER to Reversing Lamp Bulb . No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
