Pinpoint Test Bl : U0121:00

  1. BL1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    Yes  GO to  BL2.
    No  CLEAR the DTC. The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. BL2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.
    • Carry out the network test.

    Does the ABS module pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  BL3.
    No  REFER to Module Communications Network .
  3. BL3 PERFORM THE ABS MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ABS module self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
    No  GO to  BL4.
  4. BL4 PERFORM THE IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any voltage related DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  BL5.
  5. BL5 RECHECK THE IPC DTCs

    • Clear the DTCs.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Repeat the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0121:00 still present? 

    Yes  GO to  BL6.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. BL6 CHECK FOR DTC U0121:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

    • Clear all DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory DTCs.

    Is DTC U0121:00 set in the BCM module? 

    Yes  GO to  BL7.
    No  GO to  BL8.
  7. BL7 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect all ABS module connectors.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the ABS module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .CLEAR the DTC.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  8. BL8 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
