Safety Belt Retractor and Adaptive Load Limiter

The adaptive load limiting safety belt retractor is a pyrotechnic device integrated with the front passenger safety belt retractor assembly. The adaptive load limiting safety belt retractor works in conjunction with the safety belt anchor and retractor pretensioners to control the tension of the safety belt during a crash. The front passenger safety belt retractor is also referred to as the seatbelt load limiter. The load limiting feature is integrated into the safety belt retractor and cannot be serviced separate from the front passenger safety belt assembly.
