Ignition Lock Cylinder: Removal

NOTE: Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative cylinder and rebuilding a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock to match the key cut pattern for the vehicle, thus allowing for single point replacement without needing to replace or reprogram other locks or keys.

Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to: STEERING COLUMN SHROUDS .
Functional
Remove the ignition lock cylinder.
1. Position the ignition key to the ACC position.
2. Insert a pin punch into the ignition lock cylinder release access hole and depress the ignition lock cylinder release button.
3. Pull outward on the ignition key and remove the ignition lock cylinder.

Non-Functional
Using a suitable tool, press the ignition lock cylinder release pin through the access hole.

Drill 10 mm plug hole and remove the ignition lock cylinder.

Clean the ignition lock cylinder seating surface.
- Clean area and remove any remaining residue.
- Check for any abnormalities.
