Front Door Latch: Removal

  1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel .
  2. Position the DDM and wiring harness aside.

    1. Remove the retainers from the DDM.
    2. Position the DDM and wiring harness aside.

  3. Remove the front door watershield.

  4. Install the front door window control switch and lower the front door window glass 92 mm.

    1. Install the front door window control switch.
    2. Lower the front door window glass 92 mm.
    3. Remove the front door window control switch.

  5. Release the retaining clip from front door window glass.

    1. Release the retaining clip from front door window glass. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. Raise front door window glass enough to release the front door window glass from the retaining clip.

  6. Position the front door window regulator aside

    1. Remove the nuts.
    2. Position the front door window regulator aside.

  7. Remove the Exterior front door handle. Refer to: Exterior Front Door Handle  .
  8. Remove the exterior door handle reinforcement screw and gaskets.

    1. Remove the front door latch bolts.

      Torque

      : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  10. Disconnect the routing clips, the electrical connector and remove the front door latch.

  11. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the interior front door handle cable from the front door latch.

  12. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    • Remove the screws.

    • Detach and position the cable from the front door latch aside

    • Detach the rod and remove the front door latch.

  13. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement from the carrier.

    • Remove the wiring harness retainer and position the wiring harness aside.

    • Release the tab and remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
