Headliner - 4-Door: Removal

NOTE:
Do not bend or crease the headliner during removal and installation. Failure to follow this will result in damage to the headliner.

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

- Remove the retainers and the RH kick panel.
- Position aside the weather strip, release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel side trim panel.
- Remove glove box retainers.
- Open glovebox door.
- Remove the glovebox retainers.
- Release the clips and remove the glovebox.
- Disconnect the headliner electrical connectors, release the retainers and position aside.
- On both sides. Remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
- On the RH side, release the retainers and position aside the headliner wire harness.
- If equipped. Remove the dome lamp and disconnect the electrical connectors. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- If equipped, remove the overhead console. Refer to: Overhead Console .
- If equipped. Remove the rear view mirror covers.
- If equipped. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.
On both sides. Position aside the upper B-pillar trim panel.
- Remove the retainer cover and the upper B-pillar retainer.
- Position aside the weatherstrip, release the clips and position aside the upper B-pillar trim panel.
- On both sides, remove the D-pillar trim panel. Refer to: D-Pillar Trim Panel - 4-Door .
- On both sides, remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to: C-Pillar Upper Trim Panel .

NOTE: LH side shown, RH similar.
On both sides. Remove the retainers, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sun visors.

NOTE: Assist handle shown, garment hooks similar.
Remove retainers and all assist handles and all garment hooks.
- On both sides, remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
- If equipped.
- Remove the selector lever. Refer to: Selector Lever Assembly .
- Remove the gearshift lever. Refer to: Gearshift Lever - 5-Speed Manual Transmission - B5/IB5/5-Speed Manual Transmission - MTX75 . Refer to: Gearshift Lever - 6-Speed Manual Transmission - B6/6-Speed Manual Transmission - MMT6 .
- Position aside the front door and rear door weatherstrip.
- Remove RH front door. Refer to: Front Door .
- Lower the headliner.
- Remove the retainers and the sun visor clips.
- With help of an assistant, remove the retainers and lower the headliner.
- With the help of an assistant, remove the headliner.
