Timing Adjustment

Adjustment 

NOTE: Any time a roof opening panel motor is removed, the cables/mechanisms can experience free-play movement. It is important that the cables do not move. They are timed to be parallel with each other. If one or both are moved in either direction, the Timing Adjustment must be performed.
NOTE: The roof opening panel motor must be initialized when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel system or when the roof opening panel motor, glass, assembly, or air deflector has been removed or replaced for any reason.
  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. Remove the roof opening panel glass. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Glass  .
  3. With the roof opening panel glass removed, position the roof opening panel to the CLOSED position.
  4. Remove the roof opening panel motor. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Motor  .
  5. NOTE: The trough assembly arms are pulled out and the trough moved rearward to release the trough assembly guide arm pins from the roof opening panel frame and to access the alignment holes.

    On both sides.

    1. Pull out the trough arm to disconnect from the trough assembly.
    2. Pull the trough arm rearward for access to the alignment holes.

  6. NOTE: There is a hole in the lifter arm and a hole in the cable link. They will only align in one position.

    Move the affected cables by hand until the timing holes are aligned with each other.

  7. NOTE: There is a hole in the lifter arm and a hole in the cable link. They will only align in one position, and may need to be moved to align prior to inserting alignment tool. The alignment tool must remain in position until the trough assembly arms are repositioned.

    On both sides.

    1. Align the cable link hole and lifter arm hole.
    2. Insert the punch through the lifter arm and cable link hole. Use the General Equipment: Punch

  8. NOTE: When positioning the roof opening panel motor, it may be necessary to turn the roof opening panel motor slightly to engage the drive splines.

    Install the roof opening panel motor. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Motor  .

  9. NOTE: Remove the Allen wrench or pick only  after both trough assembly arms are properly attached.

    On both sides.

    1. Push the trough towards the trough assembly.
    2. Insert the trough arm into the trough assembly.

  10. Install the roof opening panel glass. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Glass  .
  11. Install the roof opening panel motor. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Motor  .
