Windshield Glass: Installation

NOTE: For additional material guidelines, refer to the manufacturer's installation information.

NOTE: Avoid scratching the pinch weld. Repair all minor scratches or exposed metal on the pinch weld following manufacturer's instructions. Use the same brand pinch weld primer, glass primer and urethane adhesive.

NOTE: Minimum 1 mm (0.04 in) bead thickness.

NOTE: Touching the adhesive surface will impair rebonding.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
1. Use the General Equipment: Knife
2. NOTE: Prepare the windshield glass, windshield glass flange and trimmed PU adhesive in accordance with the instructions supplied with the glass adhesive kit.
  
  Clean the specified component with the specified material.

NOTE: Be sure to use the same brand and cure-rate products for the urethane adhesive and glass primer. Do not mix different brands of urethane adhesive and glass primer. For additional information, refer to the Material Chart in this procedure.

NOTE: If installing a new windshield glass, apply glass primer according to manufacturer's instructions. Allow at least 6 minutes to dry.

NOTE: If installing the original windshield glass, remove the excess urethane adhesive. Using an utility knife, trim the urethane adhesive leaving a 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 in) base of original equipment urethane adhesive on the pinchweld.
- Apply the specified chemical with a brush.

- Wait for the indicated amount of time.

- Apply the specified chemical with a brush.

- Wait for the indicated amount of time.

Apply a continuous bead of the specified diameter from the specified cartridge.
Material

: Sika Tack ASAP Urethane Adhesive

NOTE: During the curing time of the polyurethane (PU) adhesive, the door windows must be left open.
- This procedure step requires the specified number of technicians.
- Press firmly and evenly into position.
- Using tape, secure the windshield glass in the correct position until the adhesive has cured. Use the General Equipment: Adhesive Tape

After the urethane adhesive has cured, check the windshield glass seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.
Install the sun visor.
- On both sides. Install the sunvisor and connect the electrical connector.
- On both sides. Install the retainers.

If equipped. Install the Overhead console Refer to: Overhead Console .
Install rear view mirror. Refer to: Interior Rear View Mirror Vehicles With: One-Touch Open Driver Window . Refer to: INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR Vehicles With: One-Touch Open and Close Front Windows .
Install A-piller trim panel. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
Install the windshield moulding assembly.
