Exterior Lighting - Overview: Headlamps

The headlamp system consists of:

Headlamp assemblies
Ballasts (High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps)
Headlamp switch
LH steering column multifunction switch
HCM
BCM
SASM

The halogen headlamp system is a quad-beam pattern system. It consists of replaceable low and high beam bulbs in each headlamp assembly. The side marker, park and turn lamps are integrated into the headlamp assembly and the bulbs are individually replaceable.

For vehicles with halogen headlamps that are equipped with headlamp LED signature lamps, the headlamp LED signature lamps are integrated into the headlamp assembly and not replaceable.

The High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamp system is a quad-beam pattern system. It consists of a High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulb in each headlamp assembly and an electronic shutter to change the beam pattern. It also consists of a separate high beam bulb. The headlamp LED signature lamps are integrated into the headlamp assembly and not replaceable. The side marker, park and turn lamps are integrated into the headlamp assembly and the bulbs are individually replaceable.

The halogen headlamp system, when equipped with headlamp LED signature lamps, is also equipped with automatic high beams.

The High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamp system is also equipped with automatic high beams and adaptive headlighting.
