The IPC provides gauges, indicators, message center displays, message center warnings and warning chimes. The message center display utilizes a single LCD display screen.
The RS and ST vehicles use a separate ICM to display the following 3 gauges.
- Engine oil temperature
- Turbo boost
- Engine oil pressure
Informational indicators provide information to the driver of conditions that exist in the vehicle. Warning indicators provide information to the driver of conditions that could potentially cause personal injury or alter vehicle performance.
RTT indicators illuminate in the message center and replace the typical informational or warning indicator using the same iconic representation. The RTT indicators are displayed in the lower row of the message center display and may move or rotate based on the indicators priority. The only exception is the cruise control RTT, which is set in a fixed location in the upper RH side of the message center display.
Module messaging has increased over time and become the standard for sending and receiving information required to operate the IPC. The majority of the inputs required to operate the IPC are received over the CAN.
Hardwired Inputs
The IPC requires hardwired inputs from components that are not on either the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) or the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). These components are required for specific IPC functions or gateway requirements.
The hardwired inputs are provided by components:
- Park detect switch (part of the floor shifter assembly)
- Upper LH (message center) and upper RH (audio control) steering wheel switch
