Thermostatic Expansion Valve - 1.0L EcoBoost (92kW/125PS): Removal

NOTE: During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.

Recover the refrigerant. Refer to the appropriate Recovery procedure in this article.
NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamps, remove the nuts. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  :1: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) 2: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
- Disconnect the quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- If equipped. Disconnect the PCV sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly.

Release the tabs and position the degas bottle aside.

Remove the bolt.
Torque

: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

Remove the nut.
Torque

: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

Remove the nut and position the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly aside.
- Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

Remove the bolts, and thermostatic expansion valve.
- Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

  : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
