Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Inlet Line - 2.3L EcoBoost (257kW/350PS) - MI4: Removal

NOTE: During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.

Recover the refrigerant. Refer to the appropriate Recovery procedure in this article.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.
1. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
2. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

Release the tabs and position the degas bottle aside.

Release the tab and remove the washer bottle filler tube.

Remove the nut and position the A/C compressor inlet line aside.
- Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

  : 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

Remove the A/C compressor inlet line support bracket bolt.
Torque

: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

Loosen the CAC inlet tube clamp and disconnect the inlet tube.

Torque

: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Remove the retainers and underbody shield.
Torque

: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

Position aside the CAC inlet tube.
