Fuel Tank: Removal

. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
- Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .
- Remove the nuts and position fuel tank heat shield aside.
Torque
: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
- Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) tube assembly-to-fuel tank tube quick release coupling and the fuel tank jumper tube-to-Fuel Pump (FP) assembly quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
.
- Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank quick release coupling and the vapor tube assembly-to-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
.
- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank.
- Position the Powertrain Jack under the fuel tank. Use the General Equipment: Powertrain Jack
- Remove and discard the fuel tank strap bolts.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Partially lower the fuel tank for access.
- Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the Fuel Pump (FP) module electrical connector.
- Lower the fuel tank.
