Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the RH wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Remove the RHF fender splash shield. Refer to: FENDER SPLASH SHIELD .
- Disconnect the CKP electrical connector.
- Turn the crankshaft until piston no. 1 is 45 degrees BTDC by using the guide holes on the engine front cover and the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the cylinder block plug.
- Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the crankshaft contacts the special tool. Install Special Service Tool: 303-507 Timing Peg, Crankshaft TDC.

NOTE: Only hand-tighten the bolt or the front cover may be damaged.
Install a 6 mm x 18 mm bolt through the crankshaft pulley TDC guide hole and into the engine front cover TDC guide hole.
- Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector, remove the bolts and the CKP sensor.
