Turbocharger Coolant Supply Tube: Installation

NOTE: The rolled sealing washer goes on the turbocharger side of the banjo fitting, the flat sealing washer goes on the banjo bolt side.
Install the new turbocharger coolant tube sealing washers onto the new turbocharger coolant tube. Install the new turbocharger coolant tube O-ring seal and lubricate with clean engine coolant. Refer to: Specifications .

- Carefully use a nylon brush to remove the old O-ring residue and use brake cleaner to rinse the O-ring residue out of the turbocharger O-ring bore. Inspect the area for deep scratches and gouges. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.

: Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner / PM-4-A, PM-4-B
- Fit the O-ring end of the turbocharger coolant tube to the turbocharger.
- Position the turbocharger coolant supply tube using the marks on the engine block made during removal, hold in position while tightening.
- Tighten the turbocharger coolant tube-to-block bolt.
Torque
: 27 lb.ft (37 Nm)
- Carefully use a nylon brush to remove the old O-ring residue and use brake cleaner to rinse the O-ring residue out of the turbocharger O-ring bore. Inspect the area for deep scratches and gouges. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.
- If removed install and tighten the turbocharger exhaust flange studs.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the NEW turbocharger gasket.

- Install the catalytic converter, then install and tighten the catalytic converter retaining nuts.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Attach the wire retainer to the coolant tube.
- Install the catalytic converter, then install and tighten the catalytic converter retaining nuts.
- Install the catalytic converter bracket and the retainers finger tight at this stage.
Torque
:Tighten the catalytic converter bracket nut. : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm) Tighten the catalytic converter bracket bolts. : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the turbocharger coolant return tube. Refer to: Turbocharger Coolant Return Tube .
- Start and check for leaks.
