Thermostat Housing: Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT ELECTRIC) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

NOTE: If equipped.
Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the protective cap and the battery cable faster and cable.
Torque
: 150 lb.in (17 Nm)

NOTE: Cover the generator to prevent coolant contamination and possible damage to generator.
Completely cover the generator with waterproof plastic.
- Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Remove the bolts and the thermostat housing.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
