Pinpoint Test C : Suspension Modes Cannot Be Changed Using The Ride Control Switch: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford Focus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Refer to Vehicle Dynamic Systems for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The SASM monitors the LH multifunction switch for a ride control switch request. When the SASM receives the request, a message is sent to the BCM over a LIN. The BCM sends a ride control switch message to the GFM2 which responds by modifying the voltage output to the damper valve solenoids.
When a suspension mode fault occurs, the GFM2 sends a message to the BCM over the HS-CAN which relays the message to the IPC. The IPC displays a suspension mode fault message in the message center and the GFM2 disregards further ride control switch messages.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| C1042:24 | Damper Switch: Signal Stuck High | This DTC sets in continuous memory if the driver mode switch message from the BCM is "active" for more than 60 seconds. This can be due to a drive mode switch failure, a drive mode switch circuit failure, a BCM failure or an object is pressing the drive mode switch. |
