Lower Arm RH: Installation

All vehicles 

1. NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
   NOTE: Do not tighten the nuts and bolts at this time.

   Install the lower arm.

   1. Install the new lower arm rearward bolts.
   2. Install the new lower arm forward bolt.

   2.0L Duratec-HE (107kW/145PS) - MI4/2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4 

2. NOTE: Make sure that the A/C compressor belt is correctly seated on the crankshaft and the A/C compressor pulleys.

   Position the A/C compressor and install the bolt.

   Torque

   : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

3. Position the A/C compressor shield and install the bolts.

   Torque

   : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

4. Tighten the upper bolt.

   Torque

   : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

5. Tighten the bolt.

   Torque

   : 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

6. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

   All vehicles 

7. Position the ball joint seal and connect the lower arm. Install the new wheel knuckle bolt and nut.

   Torque

   : 61 lb.ft (83 Nm)

8. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
9. NOTE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, otherwise incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

   Tighten the front lower arm-to-frame bolt.

   Torque

   :Stage 1: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm) Stage 2: 90°

10. NOTE: Tighten the suspension bushing fasteners with the suspension loaded or with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires, otherwise incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.
    1. Finger tight.
    2. Tighten the nuts.

       Torque

       :Stage 1: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm) Stage 2: 90°

    3. Tighten the nuts.

       Torque

       :Stage 1: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm) Stage 2: 90°

11. If equipped. Install the underbody shield and the retainers.

12. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
13. Check and if necessary adjust front toe. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment .
