Turbocharger Oil Supply Tube: Removal

NOTE:
Whenever the turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover the open ports to protect them from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All of the components should be inspected and cleaned, if needed, prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE:
Special attention needs to be given to the sealing ports for the oil feed, the oil drain, and the coolant lines, on turbocharged engines. The sealing ports must be totally clean and free from O-ring residue, have no damage to the sealing surface and the lines to ensure that there are no leaks or repeat repairs.

NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.
- Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
- After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.
- Remove the cowl panel. REFER to: Cowl Panel .
- Remove the upper and lower Air Cleaner Outlet Pipes. REFER to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Remove the upper turbocharger mounting nuts and then position the turbocharger heat shield out of the way.
- Remove the turbocharger oil supply tube retaining bolts and then remove the turbocharger oil supply tube.

NOTE: Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a NYLON brush to clean. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.NOTE: Inspect the banjo bolt, the line surface for flatness and square-ness and the sealing surface for damage. ALWAYS USE NEW SEALING WASHERS. Use brake cleaner and a NYLON brush to clean. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.
Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube O-ring seal and the turbocharger oil supply tube bolt sealing washers.

- Remove and discard the turbocharger oil filter.
