Turbocharger Coolant Supply Tube: Removal

NOTE: Whenever the turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover the open ports to protect them from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All of the components should be inspected and cleaned, if needed, prior to installation or reassembly.

NOTE: Special attention needs to be given to the sealing ports for the oil feed, the oil drain, and the coolant lines, on turbocharged engines. The sealing ports must be totally clean and free from O-ring residue, have no damage to the sealing surface and the lines to ensure that there are no leaks or repeat repairs.

Remove the Turbocharger Coolant Return Tube. REFER to: Turbocharger Coolant Return Tube .
- Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Remove the retainers and the stone guard.

Remove the bolts from the exhaust isolator bracket.

NOTE: If needed, mark the bracket to the transmission to make sure of proper placement during installation.

Remove and the catalytic converter bracket retaining nuts.

Remove and discard the catalytic converter retaining nuts, then position the catalytic converter out of the way.

Remove the turbocharger gasket and discard.

Remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube bolt and then remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a NYLON brush to clean. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.

NOTE: Inspect the banjo bolt, the line surface for flatness and square-ness and the sealing surface for damage. ALWAYS USE NEW SEALING WASHERS. Use brake cleaner and a NYLON brush to clean. DO-NOT USE A METAL BRUSH; DAMAGE TO SEALING AREA WILL RESULT IN LEAKS.

Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube sealing washers. Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube O-ring seal.
