Inspection and Verification

Refer to Charging System for schematic and connector information.

Verify the customer concern by operating the starting system.
Check the battery condition and state of charge. REFER to: Battery .
Before diagnosing or repairing the charging system inspect the following items:
- Abnormal ignition-off current drain(s). REFER to: Battery Drain Check .
- Battery for loose, damaged or corroded connections
- Battery monitoring sensor (if equipped) for loose, damaged or corroded connections
- Generator for loose, damaged or corroded connections
- Grounds for loose, damaged or corroded connections
- Verify fuses
- High current BJB for loose, damaged or corroded connections
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding.
