Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

NOTE: The instrument panel upper section is separated into LH and RH sections.

NOTE: The LH instrument panel upper section must be removed prior to removing the RH instrument panel upper section.

Open floor console arm rest.

Using and interior trim removal tool, remove LH floor console trim panel.

NOTE: Release the clips at the center and rear of finish panel then remove from instrument panel by pulling rearward.

Remove LH floor console finish panel.

Remove the floor console front trim panel.

Remove the instrument panel lower center trim panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the instrument panel center speaker grille.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

NOTE: The bottom FCIM fasteners are accessed from behind the FCIM.

Remove the 4 fasteners and the FCIM.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  Torque: 23 lb.in (2.6 Nm)

Remove the 2 fasteners and the lower instrument panel reinforcement bracket.
Torque: 23 lb.in (2.6 Nm)

Remove both LH and RH instrument panel side trim panels.

Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
Fully lower and extend the steering column.

Remove the 2 fasteners and the LH instrument panel upper section.
- Release the ambient light clip from the LH side of instrument panel upper section panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and the harness retainer at the RH side of instrument panel upper section panel.
  Torque: 23 lb.in (2.6 Nm)

Open the glove compartment.

Remove the 4 fasteners and the glove compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
  Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness push pin retainer.
  Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
